LOW IMPACT DEVELOPMENT Low Impact Development (LID) is a comprehensive land planning and engineering design approach with a goal of maintaining and enhancing the pre-development hydrologic regime of urban and developing watersheds. Many jurisdictions around the Country are beginning to incorporate LID into their planning practices. This meeting provided background on LID and how it will be incorporated into planning for the County of San Diego. Dr. Timothy Lawrence, UC Davis Extension, Center for Water and Land Use presented a summary of LID, the problems that it tries to solve, and the tools that can be used. Sara Agahi, County of San Diego, Watershed Protection Program presented an overview of the Hydromodification requirements of the newly updated Municipal Stormwater Permit. She also discussed mechanisms and timelines for compliance with these requirements. Christine Sloane, County of San Diego, Watershed Planner discussed the LID manual that the County is in the process of developing. |
