| MISSION The Orange County Wetlands Task Force, a subgroup of the Southern California Wetlands Recovery Project, serves a coordination role for the diverse wetlands stakeholders in Orange County. The overall objective is to breathe life into our wetland ecosystems through a wide variety of efforts including enhancement, restoration, preservation, education, and land acquisition. The task force provides a forum for communication and collaboration among wetlands stakeholders and the conduit for local grassroots participation in the regional initiatives of the Southern California Wetlands Recovery Project. |

STRUCTURE The Task Force is made up of a Steering Committee, General Task Force, and the Education, Grants, and Legislation subcommittees. MEETINGS The Orange County Wetlands Recovery Project task force is open to everyone interested in wetlands and watersheds throughout Orange County. The task force meets the fourth Thursday of the month from 11:30 to 1:30. Meetings are usually held at the Newport Beach Public Library, 1000 Avocado, Newport Beach, but also may consist of field site visits or be held at another venue. | Wetlands Projects Support - provide support for projects on the 2003-2004 WRP workplan. Communication and Collaboration Building - continue and build the function of the task force to provide a venue for communication and collaboration among wetland and watershed stakeholders in Orange County. Watershed Planning and Restoration Tools Development - continue the development of regional and local restoration and planning tools through participation in the WRP Science Advisory Panel initiatives and local efforts. ![]() Workshops and Professional Training - support the development of workshops and training for all levels of individuals and organizations working in wetland and watershed restoration, enhancement, and acquisition. Organizational Development and Support - through work of the grants committee, workshops and individual consultation, support the capacity development of local nonprofits and organizations. Educational Outreach - through task force education committee build collaborations with Orange County educational institutions to ensure inclusion of wetlands and watershed topics. Legislative Action - continue the work of the task force legislative committee to support legislation important to Orange County wetlands and watersheds. |
